Lady Jane’s Naturals was created by founder, Taylor, in 2016. When studying the horrific environmental effects of synthetic chemical fertilizers in college, she created the company with a mission to promote sustainable agriculture. The Cherry Street Farmer’s Market gave Taylor a platform to sell Rabbit Manure Tea, an easy to use compost tea that allows home gardeners to be environmentally conscious. “My mission was to create a product that was easy to use, environmentally friendly, and comparative in benefits to synthetic fertilizers…after diligent research, rabbit manure proved to be the superior choice”, expresses Taylor.
Rabbit Manure Fertilizer: A Review
Hello, friends! Rather you’re a home gardener or large-scale cannabis farmer, the time is now to start preparing for the upcoming season. Before you purchase synthetic chemical fertilizers or soil enhancements, think organic. Rabbit manure needs to be your go-to fertilizer this season. Not only has it shown to be superior to synthetic fertilizers in countless scientific studies, it also is good for the planet! Stop contributing to the chemical pollution leaching into our water supply. Start rebuilding the soil. Start promoting ecosystem success. I’m dedicating this blog topic to discuss the multiple benefits your plants will see when you make the switch to rabbit manure. Keep reading, your plants will thank you!
Soil condition is the top factor in having a successful grow. Factors like water retention, nutrient levels, and organic matter all influence healthy plants and high yields. Do you have potted plants? Even if you start with healthy soil, plants need a constant supply of food. Potted plants lose their nutrients in as little as 3 weeks! Plants are like people. If you don’t feed them, they will not survive. If you don’t feed them enough, they will be malnourished. Thus, compromising on quality and quantity of yields. “Food” for plants is composed of nutrients necessary for survival. The main nutrients that all plants need to thrive are Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potassium. This is also referred to as the N-P-K ratio. Rabbit manure is rich in these nutrients and typically demonstrates a ratio of 1-1-1. Micro-nutrients such as calcium, magnesium, and zinc are also prevalent in rabbit manure.
The article “Effect of Rabbit Manure…on Growth, Flowering and Chemical Constituents of Periwinkle Plants” by Hassan was published in the Australian Journal of Basic and Applied Sciences. He studied the differences in periwinkle growth over two seasons with a control group and a group that he fertilized with rabbit poop. “Rabbit manure at all levels led to a greatly significant increase in plant height as compared to untreated plants in both seasons”, Hassan found. Applying rabbit manure increased the plant height up to 24% over the control group. He also found “the maximum number of branches were detected with the application of rabbit manure as reached 25.31% over the check control”. The rabbit manure group exhibited 9.76% greater dry herb weight and 16.78% greater dry leaves weight when compared to the control group. This proves that plants treated with rabbit manure produced robust plant growth.
Plant flowering was also significantly different between the control and treated group. “All rabbit manure treatments caused an earlier flowering date compared to untreated control” according to Hassan. The number of flowers on each individual plant increased over the control by 12.65%. This shows rabbit manure increases flowering/fruiting yields. Rabbit manure not only increases the quantity of flowers/fruit, it also improves the size! “It was found that the heaviest weight of dry flowers was observed due to receiving rabbit manure which increased it by 25.57% over the control”, he states. If you’re looking to get the most bang for your buck, rabbit manure proves to be the superior choice.
Why use harmful synthetic fertilizers when this organic option has proven to be superior? Applying rabbit manure increases yields, promotes hearty vegetative growth, supports the ecosystem, conserves water resources, and empowers you to make a sustainable choice for a healthier planet.
